First of all a big thank you to all the people that came to our gigs, listened to our music and generally took and interested in what we are up to. Everybody and their ‘frog’ seems to blog about their year and I feel strangely compiled to join the club:-) However, I’ll keep it compact for those of you who will care to read my summary of 2013. Austria is not a country known for churning out heaps of funky, jazzy, souley type of musicians and one of it’s nine provinces names Salzburg with the province capital with the same name possibly even less so. As it happens, this is were I was born.When I was a little whipper snapper I slowly started to understand that this town was known for it classical music heritage and apparently world famous classical music festivals – birthplace of the infamous Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (who really knew how to write a good tune or two:-) and Herbert von Karajan, a conductor with some international notoriety…

So, for all those of you who would like to end up on the next Funkestra record, just record yourself singing ‘We gonna make it sound like Zawinul’ (in tempo at 98 bpm) and send us the sound file. The idea is that we get this huge chanting ‘Joe Zawinul appreciation choir’ with many, many different voices singing the line. High voices, low voices, silly voices, tiny voices, perfect voices, imperfect voices, old voices, young voices…all are welcome.
