The Masterlink Sessions proudly present their first hybrid recording with the release of “The One True Coin,” an intense mid-tempo funk-jazz single featuring the powerhouse horn duo The Horn House—Nichol Thomson (trombone) and Tom Walsh (trumpet). This genre-bending track brings together world-class musicians across two continents and serves as a thrilling preview of the forthcoming FUNKOPIA album, due out October 3 on RSB Records.

A Groundbreaking Hybrid Session

Unlike previous sessions, “The One True Coin” was created using a hybrid recording setup. The rhythm section—Ross Stanley, Mike Sturgis, and Stefan Redtenbacher—performed live at Masterlink Productions, captured on film by Leo Mansell. Meanwhile, The Horn House, Karl Vanden Bossche, and Dave Limina contributed their performances remotely from studios in the UK and the US, including Woolly Mammoth Studio in Boston.

This seamless integration showcases the evolving creative flexibility of The Masterlink Sessions, allowing artists to collaborate across borders while maintaining the spirit of live music.

The track draws its name and mood from the enigmatic world of cryptocurrencies, bitcoin, and the dark net. This modern inspiration is reflected in both the music’s layered textures and the atmospheric video editing by Leo Mansell, with exceptional audio production by James Welsh.
